An Acceptable Use Policy is a contract that exists between the school, the student user and the students'
parents. It clearly defines the rules for Internet access and consequences for irresponsible use.
STUDENT INTERNET USE CONTRACT
All users who access the Internet through St. Mary's School are required to adhere to strict ethical, legal, and safety guidelines discussed throughout this booklet. If St. Mary's students violate any of these provisions, their access to the Internet via school connections may be terminated and future access may be denied. I realize that the use of the Internet is a privilege, not a right, and I understand that inappropriate behavior may lead to penalties including termination or complete denial of access. I understand that the primary purpose of the Internet connection at St. Mary's School is educational and I agree to the following:
PARENT INTERNET CONSENT
St. Mary's School believes that the benefit to students from access to the Internet, in the form of information resources and opportunities for collaboration far exceed the disadvantages of access. Ultimately, you as parents are responsible for setting and conveying the standards your child should follow. The school, therefore, respects each family's rights to decide whether to approve student access or not. It is important that parents understand that while the school will make every effort to guide and monitor
students' access to the Internet, it does not have control of the information or content.
